I think I am with the majority in that I believe when pot roast is served it needs to be moist, tender, and succulent, especially if it is cooked in today's modern kitchens. There are few excuses for an overcooked roast. I have known one guy who punched his wife in the face because the roast was burnt. I certainly do not agree with that action (a man should never punch a woman) but I do believe there should be some sort of disciplinary action if the roast is over done - especially since it can be $3.99/lb or more. Plus, when you add in the the potatoes, carrots, and the experience of a ruined meal it really adds up. I believe, the first time she should be given a warning unless she has a real good excuse like an emergency came up. More often than not, women are goofing around watching TV, on the computer, or talking on the phone and not paying attention to cooking. If she does it after a warning is given, then comes a spanking..a serious spanking. Doesn't this sound fair?

A man who punches his wife, let alone in the face, is not more than an abusive thug and personally, I would not want such a creature as a friend. I hate to imagine what else he is capable of.

Now, back to that unsatisfactory pot roast. I agree with how it should be, even though I am not a red meat eater. To be honest, there is no excuse if you toss it into a clay baker or a microwave and set it to cook at the appropriate time.

What if you have that passel of sick kids, or there is some difficulty with the kids? What if she is so exhausted from being up all night with a teething child and fell asleep in the rocker nursing it? What if she puts dinner in then goes to chauffeur them to sports etc and something goes wrong and she is delayed?

Personally, unless it was my love long distance from across the globe, I have never been a phone person, but he and I would talk for hours. TV? How foolish to let dinner burn over whatever trash is on at that time! Computer, well, that is for leisure time, not when there is work to be done. After all, when my man came home I wanted the house tidy and to look as presentable as possible.

This is my JOB. He works and provides the house, I work and make the house a home.

If I screwed up for SELFISH reasons, sure, spank me darling spank me. But that is the key word... SELFISH.

She definitely needs more than one chance. There are numerous things besides the TV that can distract a woman, while she's cooking. After all, she is taking care of your kids, cleaning the house, and getting everything in order for when you come home from work. You might try talking to her about it if you've noticed a severe decline in the quality of your meals. Just ask her what she's doing with her time. Then, if she says that she's hooked on soap operas-spank her severely! No woman should watch those God awful things!

That sounds very fair sweetheart.
With the exception of emergencies there is no excuse for a poorly cooked dinner.
Men work hard all day to support their families and women need to show their appreciation by keeping the house clean, taking care of the kids (if there are any) and cooking GOOD meals for her husband.
It's the least they can do for the man who does so much for them.
They should also have to pay for the dinner out of their allowance (if they get one at all).
Some corner-time would be appropriate also.
XOXO

Mr, Sandstorm,
Sir, I think that the man should just appreciate that he has a woman that will cook. It took me a few times to learn how to cook a roast before I really learned how. I got lucky that I never burnt it. I don't think a woman should not be punished and deserves some exceptions especially when she is just learning how to cook. It could take time and deserves patience on the man's part. Thank you!

If there are multiple occurrances when she's cooking and dinner doesn't come out right, perhaps she doesn't have the skills in the kitchen. I would say there are two real choices here. Offer to pay for her to take a cooking class, but only if she wants to. Or, you could do the cooking if you are good in the kitchen. If neither of my choices appeal to you, suck it up and eat the food, burnt bits and all.

I have no clue how to cook pot roast. Remember, there are many of us women whose husbands are deployed so we dont get the chance to make beautiful dinners because a bunch of small children wont eat. Its just a pot roast!

Just eat it & be thankful. It may not be the best but just do 5 things 1. Put some on fork 2. Put in mouth 3. Chew it 4. Swallow it 5. Repeat steps 1 thru 4 until all is gone, then say delicicious & thank you & then do the dishes

I think she needs more than one chance. I mean come on. Even with today's modern kitchens it takes a while for you to get to know your oven. There are hotspots, some temperatures are a little off and cooking times vary depending on these appliances. I understand that the cost of meat is expensive, maybe she should try out meat loaf and cook that in the oven for a while. Be patient, like the understanding man we really know you are deep down. With cooking comes great responsibility.

I agree, a sound thrashing is in order. I have a nice leather paddle that I have used on my woman for far less offenses. I have her kneel, I express my dissatisfaction at the infraction, then have her lean over and grab my ankles so her bottom is in the air, and smack her soundly with the paddle for the length and duration appropriate to the offense.

Well, yeah it does; after all we all want to sit down to a properly cooked meal. So that's why I went out and got me one of them slowcookers. A perfect meal everytime!
P.S. I can do it in the oven and it will come out just as lovely.
