Andre Linde of russia has proposed, (it goes something like this) the spiral galaxy where we live is in a constant motion of change, it evolves outward then falls back inward and repeats that motion over and over. He's saying that we can't think in terms of beginnings and ends but that it's been happening since forever and shows no sign of ceasing.

I know that string theory refers to the big bang, but I'm not sure this is what you're looking for.

string theory because it tries to explain how all the forces in the universe interact in a singularity. strong and weak nuclear forces electric forces and gravetational forces.
