The US IS pathetic under Bush!

And look at the weakness of those who defend him out of denial.

The french don't act like that. They have their own problems to deal with too and cannot always be concered with what is going on across the pond. The US may have Bush but France had Chirac, US has corruption, France has slow growth.

Those who say France is turning into an islamic state - its not - its a massively secular society and muslims account for only 10% of the population and vastly secular, their cause isn't because they are muslim, its because their disadvantage second generation immigrants. Spain, the UK and US have had terrorist attacks by muslim extremists, France with a larger muslim population hasn't.

The US impact on the first world war was marginal and at the very end. France never surrendered and was never occupied. One of the last wars they were in was Vietnam, and it was the US who were arming Ho Chi Ming, didnt that bit the US in the behind. France failed in that war and the war with Algeria because they were on the wrong side, the people of France were also oppossed to those occuptions too. The UK went through the same as did all the colonial powers.

As to those who say why should we care what they think, well considering France with much of Europe are the US's creditors along with Japan, China, Canada, and Australia, it might be wise to care what they think.

Then theres the US Trade deficit. France would be a target market and it doesn't help when the American brand is not a good one.

I'd just like to offer an impartial defence of France since there doesn't seem to be much of one on here, probably cause they speak a different language and wouldnt be in the english section.

Yes, I am quite sure that French are relishing our defeat, as are many other European nations that had the integrity to stand up to Bush and say that they will not partake in this senseless war. I find it quite humorous how Bush and his neocon supporters would lambaste the French, equating them with everything feminine and cowardly, and now many of them, or at least the few that have come to their senses are finally back peddling from their machismo induced rhetoric.

Its time that the United States mature beyond this Rambo mentality that seeks to change the world through unilateral action. We need to start taking cues from our international counterparts and seek more diplomatic resolutions to global conflict, or at the very least where armed combat is unavoidable, resolve to have more global support for our actions. Europe is a seasoned veteran at experiencing the horrors of war, and they avoid it at all costs, not because of cowardice, but because ultimately, most wars are senseless and fruitless. When the collective political consciousness of the American people finally evolves past accepting credulously the strategic aims of Presidents who pretend to be cowboys, and other political leaders who posture themselves as action heroes; when Americans finally cease being seduced by this mystique of U.S. military “heroism and divine providence, then and only then will we spare the lives and limbs of our boys and countless innocent people abroad.

It is then and only then, when we reach this new enlightened state, that we can call ourselves the greatest country on earth.

Did you know that the French started the Panama Canal. But quit, they could not finish the project so the US came to the rescue and finished the project. They used what the French has started but it was the good old USA to the rescue once again. When will the world learn, there is nothing better than American made.

Considering French people in their 50's today stand a good chance of being the bastard child of a English, German, US, or even Canadian soldier, I think they should be thanking the world for thinning down their coward frog blood.

Why would I care what the French think? Considering they have lost every conflict they have ever been in, they are the ones being laughed at.

Have you been to France lately? They are having the same immigration problem we have except their illegals are Muslim. Europe is being turning into a series of Muslim states. Oh, and they were part of the coalition France pulled out as did Spain.

Since we had to give the French back their country twice in one century they still have plenty of helpings of humble pie. Combined with the fact that they have double digit unemployment and their health care system is failing and teenagers brought their country to its knees with riots they have their own problems as we have ours.
