Yellow Top Value stamps or the Green stamps? They give them out when you bought gas or groceries. Then you saved them up to buy things. I remember getting a transister radio with them.

I remember that my grandma and great-aunts used to collect green stamps and use them at A & P or National Grocery in Chicago. I totally remember what they look like too. Wow, does that bring back some memories from my childhood, and long gone relatives too. I love memories like that...the ones tucked away that come out after 10+ years. So pleasant.

We "know" death in three ways, but we never truly KNOW it until it happens. 1. We hear about it, are told/taught about it (usually as children.) In this sense, death is a very abstract, usually far-off, concept. It doesn't mean very much...yet. 2. We experience it, first hand. A pet dies. A grandparent. A child. Something we loved and will miss is now gone for good, and death takes on "a whole new meaning." But it still hasn't threatened us directly. 3. We face it ourselves. A bad accident. A medical report. Going to war, etc. Death comes knocking, and what we've only seen happen to others is now a frighteningly real prospect. We now understand "the impending fear of death." The only time death is real is when we die. Until that moment, all the illusions we have (or don't have) about god really mean little. A lifetime of conviction can vanish in a split second when faced with the moment of truth.

Yep, I remember. I got a set of pots and pans-still have them and use them! My mom used to save them when I was a kid-she got a sewing machine. The green stamp redemption center was close to our house.

They're still being used. he store where I shop lets you use them like money. for each dollar spent you can use a page of stamps. The other store lets you use one page of stamps for each item bought.
