Can I exchange a dollar bill if it's ripped and I only have half of it?

not likely, but i believe if you have the half with the little special strip in the side they will give you a new one. I believe in this case it is up to the bank.

I've been told you can exchange it as long as you have more than 50% of the bill.

"Valid" US currency needs a picture and a serial number.
