I am a mom and I like to think my daughters willl come to me if there is a problem.

You do not say how old you are and how old your boyfriend is.
Age should not be an issue as it is up to you who you go out with so my guess you are very very young and there may be an issue of him being a man old enough to be your dad.
If you are serious about this man and my guess you are then I would be open and honest with your mom and tell her. She will be more angry or embarrased if she finds out from someone else.
Honesty is best policy but it is up to you who you go out with and not your mom. Some boyfriends I have hated with a pasion who my daughters have been out with but I just grinned and beared it until it ran its course. As I know that being against someone is the worst thing a mom can do.

Well if you're still a child, i.e. under 16 and your "Boyfriend" is an adult which is what you're making it sound like, then you need to tell your mum. It may not seem like it now but this man is taking advantage of your immaturity and innocence.
EDIT: Ok I've just read your profile and you say that you're 18, well just get on with it then, tell your mum and if she doesn't like it then you just have to deal with it.

depends on how much older, but she may be scared of any boyfriend, maybe try explaing how well he treats you and that you r not just having a crush, that it may be the real thing. she will understand better lot come from you than from finding out by gossip or chance. go on bite the bullet and good luck

my daughter has a boyfriend who is 11 years old than her..and i was shocked when she first told me..eventually! but - he treats her very well, they live together & i have never seen her happier...so if you have a good guy - your mum will be pleased..in the end. tell her - what the worst that could happen..you are 18 after all.

as long as the guy aint got kids hangign about go for it you might learn how to make love properly age is just numbers some bigger than others, i'd tell my parents why hide if you love him and are proud to be with him and he treats you right go for it, if your parents love you they will go along with your romance but even then they might be upset etc but myself I would be happy but I'd make sure his intentions were honourable, or else he'd be in serious trouble.

Tell her before someone else tells her for you. Can't you just introduce him instead of telling her, that way she can see how nice he is without judging the situation first.

Start by telling her you are not pregnant! That will make the news that much less of a blow!

As long as he's not more than 23,there shouldn't be a problem.
