I'd have told the truth. The threat of WMD WAS very real. Jimmy Carter gutted the CIA and left this country blind on intel. That Reagan sold Iraq WMD technology... I'd have spoke out loud and clear when accused of having lied about WMD. I'd have disclosed Clinton's complacency and Albright's and Berger's political correctness gone awry that allowed 9/11. I'd have sealed the borders to Iraq well before their first free election. I'd have strongly considered a small nuclear detonation in Iran's new nuclear "power plant." I'd have arrested for treason, Sandy Berger (and quite possibly Bill Clinton) for his theft of secret documents relating to the 9/11 inquiry. I'd have considered firing Gonzales for his lame answer to the media and the liberals over the firing of Presidential appointed federal judges. I'd have pointed out that Iran has completely mishandled their state run oil program and disclosed that their wells are now all over 50 years old and in a rate of decline of 13% per years. That while sitting atop the world's third largest oil deposit, that for the last year and a half, they've not been able to export a single drop of oil -- goes a long way toward explaining their presence in Iraq and their demand for a nuclear "power plant." I'd have demanded the U.N. clean up their act (Food for Oil Scandal and 316 counts of child molestation/rape over the last year and a half (prior to Ban taking over as Sec. General) or get the hell out of New York. Oh, the things I would do. Can you say "Sedition Act?"

I would have started a secret government program to implant special mind control chips into chimpanzees. I would have then dressed up the chimps in clothing from the 1970's and sent them to Iran. The chimps would attempt to meld into iranian society and plant the subversive seeds of democracy and free thought into the public discourse. Of course, Chimps don't speak english so there would be some difficulty. I don't imagine that the iranians would take well to poo being flung about hither and fro. This is where the mind control chips would come into play. The chips would suddenly turn the chimps into deadly ninja warriors. They would spring into action and begin to battle all those who opposed the flinging of poo. Once thier utter dominance had been established, poo flinging would become the norm and thus would end the Iranian quest for nuclear weapons. I mean who can concentrate on building nukes when people are throwing poo around?

From the start of his term? I would have not banned federal funding of embryonic stem cell research with an executive order. I would have acted on the information that my administration received that showed a potential threat coming in the months leading to 9.11 (as discussed in the 9.11 commission report). I would have gone after the Taliban overtly and worked to have gone after terrorism in a more covert way.
I would have focused my efforts on strengthening border security to make sure that terrorists would not be able to get into the country. I would have eliminated the loophole that allows the military to invoke "stop loss" on "try one" contracts.
I would not have attacked Iraq before completing the job on Al Queda (and I probably would not have done a full scale invasion of Iraq either).
I would have done more fact checking when it came down to determining if the "16 words" where true or not.
I would not have politicized the Terri Shiavo incident, I would have felt sad for her and her family but allowed Florida law to work itself out.
I would have made sure that FEMA got their tails down to the gulf coast to immediately to make sure that the people here got food and water (even if they could not have been evactuated immediately). I would not have told Brownie that he did a heck of a job. I would have immediately waved the 10% requirement for local governments to put up on rebuilding costs (just like they where done for New York after 9.11 and Florida after its hurricanes).
I would not have appointed Roberts or Alito. I would sign HR 1591 (even though HR 1591 wouldnt be needed since we wouldnt be in Iraq right now).
I think that is long enough. Im sure I can think of other things that I would have done differently but this covers many of the major points.

I think some people don't want to waste their time writing to someone who doesn't plan on thoughtfully considering what they have to say.
In addition, you are talking about 7 years. This is a discussion, not a lecture. I would have to write a book to answer your question.
Lastly, Bush irreversibly changed history. It's hard to even imagine what the country's main problems would be today without Bush.
Back then, it was clear what we needed. Keep the Budget balanced, fix Social Security, make health-care more affordable, gun control, address global warming. Pretty high on the priority list is "don't start an unprovoked war". Need more?

I don't have enough free time for full answer but we would never have gotten into the war with Iraq:
For current term:
First get Cheney to resign and then I would resign myself due to obvious incompentency in both cases. After that I would watch President Pelosi achieve a quick departure from Iraq, putting more forces in areas that contain the most dangerous enemies such as Afganistian (not enemies that we have made through invasion). Then I would watch domestic issues such as healthcare and minimum wage improve.

I don't believe that I'd have let so many of these stupid personal attacks go unanswered and the outright lies go unquestioned. He was way, way to lenient on the opposition, and they never forgave him for it.

Pretty much what he's done but I would have been tougher on the liberals who are destroying America's morale and those who leak secret information.
