Yes, many fish change to a darker color at night, as they are sleeping - most fish dont really sleep but instead shut off half of their brain. Fish also can change to a darker color because of stress or aggression. But because yours is at night, then i would say they are okay.

hard to tell without knowing what your mystery fish are.
