I was givin a long finned danio from the pet store cause she had no tail..in fact the tail is eaten down to what looks like bone on the bottom side ....the top still has a little bit of fin left....will her tail grow back after being eatten down that far??
I know most tails do grow back just wondering if she is never going to heal and if I'm prolonging her agony by thinking that it will grow.

Once damaged to the "meat" of the tail (aka the caudal peduncle) the tail will not grow back, so she will never heal normally.

Your not prolonging her agony. Either she will die shortly or given a few weeks and her tail will grow back. But they are hardy fish so she will probably live.

Its best not to buy fish that have been damaged.

It should grow back.

Get some Melafix to speed it up.
