I won't get too much in depth but, slaves were brought over starting in the late 1600's and ended in the mid-1800's.

The majority of slaves were taken from the countries on the West Coast of Africa.

They were brought over for labor. They were used to tend to the fields and weren't paid a dime.

The slaves were brought over on slave ships by Europeans. Also, what many people don't know is that over half of the African's that were taken as slaves were taken to South America. Many people think that they all came to the United States, but that is not the case.
