This is a crock of crap, You can hide the fact that you are Gay, I can't hide the fact that I am Black. Being gay is a choice, although it is a choice that is determined by upbringing and exposure to that lifestyle.
I tell you what I will advocate for gay rights when gays are enslaved, hung from trees, burned alive on crosses, have their children taken away to be sold in a slave market, denied the right to vote, have crosses burned in their yards, houses burned to ground, land stolen while the government did nothing, denied access to various state servies, etc.
And then and only then you can compare the homosexual struggle to the black struggle.

I've probably been around longer than you have, and come from the South. No one in my lifetime has ever suggested that people of certain races should not marry or have children (there was a time when they did want to sterilize the retarded, but that wasn't a racial matter). You can't compare this to miscegenation statutes, which did exist, because I haven't heard anyone protest a gay man marrying a gay woman, nor have I heard anyone get exercised about their right to do so.
Adoption arguments do not support your analogy to the black experience. There are some prominent blacks that are against the idea of a white family adopting a black child for cultural reasons. Cultural reasons are precisely why people oppose gays adopting.
You're really not going to get very far with analogizing being gay to being black. Nobody put gay ancestors in the hold of a ship in chains and moved them across the ocean. No one ever held auctions for gay people. The Supreme Court has never adjudicated a case involving homosexuals under principles of Property Law. While the religious right may call gays sinners, they don't classify them with monkeys.
You should stay away from this analogy. It'll probably backfire on you with the black community, because it insults them.
But it was a nice try at making the argument something it isn't.

I agree. No color is involved, but homosexuality is not a choice. Gays and Lesbians are born that way. Saying it's illegal for them to marry and have the rights EVERYONE ELSE IN AMERICA HAS is the same as saying black people couldn't have certain rights simply because they were black. Does no one remember that Religion and State are separate? No matter what is says in the Bible, or whatever other holy book, it shouldn't affect our laws since they are separate. How is it ok to pick and choose when State and Religion are separate and when they aren't. The government should be concerned with equal rights to everyone, not just for those people deemed to worthy by someone's religious beliefs. It's just not fair to say someone can't have a legal union because, "Marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman." Why? "Because it's wrong IN THE EYES OF GOD." Well, we're not talking about God, now, are we? We're talking about the government. And if you take the Bible and all the religion out of the picture, all that's left is prejudice. What's it called when a black person is denied something a white person is allowed? Thank you.

Sorry Drakie old Kid, you have exactly the same rights as I have. You're not permitted to marry a man - - I'm not permitted to marry a man.
You and some other man can't adopt a baby - - I and some other man can't adopt a baby.
Sure, I know you'll say, " Why would you want to marry another man is you're not a homo "? I don't have to have a reason. The law doesn't require you to have a reason. Laws are for everyone equally.
Homos don't want equality - - they already have that. They want special consideration. No way, buddy.

Yes, many of the arguments made to keep gay marriage illegal are similar to those used to keep interracial marriage illegal as well. At a basic level, people used religious and moral arguments against interracial marriage as they are now using religious and moral arguments against gay
marriage.
Arguments where made about tradition as well. Back then, marriage was traditionally between people of the same race. Now, the argument is that marriage is traditionally between people of different genders.
If you compare the ruling in Loving v. Virginia and compare it to the ruling by Richard Kramer in California against their gay marriage ban, you will see very similar thoughts and arguments.

Marriage between a man and a woman has worked since the beginning of recorded history (i.e. thousands of years).
Suddenly, we're "enlightened" and tossing away thousands of years of practical experience for a social experiment which goes against the morality of most people alive? Skin color's got nothing to do with it, that's a cop out attempt for legitimacy.
(and btw, it's the right to PURSUE happiness, not the right to be happy. There is a big difference)

Marriage is typically seen as between a man and a woman, but I personally feel like gay couple deserve the same rights as straight couples. Bigotry is wrong period.

Not really. Saying that marriage is the union of one man and one woman is not at all like saying that white people should only associate with other white people.

Please tell me what rights are denied to homosexual? They can still marry in a church if they want to, they can set up power of attorney granting all the same rights to their partners, etc.
This does not equate to racism. To me this is a non-issue.

Do you have any examples?
Marriage is between a man and a woman. I don't see color involved.
I'm also against NAMBLA, beastiality, polygamy even if both are consenting or if the parents are consenting or whatever.
