Upload a photo of the mystery fish to to one of those free sites & post the link here.... Then somebody will be able to help you. Otherwise nobody will have an idea.
As a general rule algae eaters are very tough creatures. even the tiny ones like ottos are very good at self defense. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Most of them are fast movers, many have armor plates for skin, and several varieties have razor sharp blades on their fins.

Try this link to figure out what kind of fish you may have. http://www.aquariumlife.net They have good pics. If your algea eater is a catfish he will probably be pretty safe as they have an armoured body.
All I can suggest without knowing what types of fish you have is just keep a close eye on them and separate them at the first sign of trouble.
Good Luck!!

If your "mystery fish" has eaten other fish before, chances are they will do it again.
Most fish will eat fish smaller than them. Its just a fact of life. As to whether your fish will be aggressive towards others and actually try to kill them, depends on the species. A little more information is needed, and pictures would be even better.
