I didn't get your answer, my solution showed x = 3.

2^(7 - 3x) = 1/4
(7 - 3x)(ln 2) = ln 1/4
7 - 3x = (ln 1/4)/(ln 2) = -1.386294/0.693147
7 - 3x = -2
-3x = -9
x = 3

Substiute 3 back into the original equation:
2^(7 - 9) =1/4
2^(-2) = 1/4
1/4 = 1/4
.
