People overcome many things. There is nothing in your life you cannot change without effort, will, luck and good choices. In a bad relationship? Leave. Owe bills? Work and pay them, sacrifice extraneous expenses until you catch up. Does a 23 woman want to NOT to be a lesbian? If she wants to NOT to be BADLY enough, I suppose she could, but if the sexual "tendency" is too deeply seeded, this will need more effort than most humans are able to accomplish. It's in the "trying to fool ourselves into being something we're not" that gets us into heartache. We are all creatures moulded by our genetics, parental guidance and life experiences. The 23 yr. old is the only one who can make the decisions that will fashion the rest of her life. And I wish her all the luck in the world.

I was 29 when I tried to convert because of religion. I was 29 1/2 when I realized that I will not destroy my life for religion. After all, love is an important part in life, that's (at least for me) what makes me most happy in my life: to have someone I can talk, cuddle, go somewhere and also have sex with. Okay friends are important too, but love? that's the TOP.

What is religion? A book, written by 60 MEN in 140 years (or something like that)......My life is here to make me happy. Then I can be the best person I can be for others, is when I'm happy. I have decided my god is not the god from the bible.
I'm lesbian, and I don't see nothing wrong with it.

You can't control who you fall in love with, just like you can't make a black person white. You can hide it, disguise it, but not control it or change it. If the 23 yrd old is lesbian, then the 23 yr old will probably always be lesbian.

Can a straight person fall in love with a person of the same gender? No. With that same logic, a gay person can not fall in love with a person of the opposite gender.

I don't think age has anything to do with it. I would imagine that it is just as difficult for a 23 as for a 53 year old to "overcome" who they are and what they were born as. It really seems ashamed for someone to want to "overcome" their natural self. I sure hope they are trying to do this because it is what they want rather than because someone is pressuring them to try this. I would think there could be some real latent issues develope towards anyone trying to pressure them to do this.

Anyone can "overcome" tendencies, but if you mean can someone be "Converted" from being lesbian to being straight?

Then the answer is NO!

It's not a disease, or something someone chooses.

Sure, anyone can change what hand they use to write with, some better than others...but that does NOT change what hand you are NATURALLY ORIENTED to use.

You cannot change who you are, you can only accept who you have become. Being a lesbian is NOT a bad thing, not being honest with yourself IS a bad thing:)

Why would you want to? Lesbians are great. Plus they have the lowest rate of STDs of any other sexual orientation.

Your sexuality is what it is. You can't go around changing it.

That said, some people are bisexual and may gravitate toward different genders at different times in their lives.

Good luck! :)

(No, praying or "God" will not "fix" it! It's got nothing to do with religion. Trust me!)

Yes , anyone can kick the gay sexual addiction. The Exgay Ministries ( which can be contacted safely and anonymously for support by using your search engine) can help. Thousands of Exgays cannot be wrong, there is LIFE outside of the gay community.
