Alienware is way overpriced for what you get. Vigor gameing sells reasonble cost and has numerous options for mobo ram ect, way more than most. Some things are better to buy from factroy like an Xfi card is a little cheaper. It's really easy to build your own and will save you a fair amount. Everything is plug and play nowadays. All you really need is 3 screwdrivers and a pair of pliers lol. But if you want a ready made box I highly reccomend Vigor Gameing. I bought an expensive one from them and have had no problems. I overclock it from 2.8 to 3.6 and with the monsoon cooling unit (tec) it only gets about 2-3 degrees over room temp. If you check there prices vs other custon gamebox makers you will find they are one of the least expensive. I also HIGHLY reccomend the dell 30in widescreen. It's pretty costly but man is it worth it. You might wait until the new quadcore amd comes out if you want amd or make sure your socket will be compatable. I did make some dumb mistakes and needed tech support and they were good enough, the guy is a little hard to understand as he has an accent but he got my problem fixed just fine. He also sent me some free things I asked for to install a power unti in my drivebay for gpu's. Check em out anyhow and you can see what I mean on prices. The vigor monsoon is well worth the 70 buckx, however I'm not exactly sure if the new domonator series corsair mem with the fan unit will fit, but I am sure if it doest it can be trimmed. I use an asus crosshair and I think the newer 590 series boards are slightly wider where they need to be for that.

If you're serious about PC gaming I would recommend a DELL XPS system like these:
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/xps?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Alienware PCs are WAY overpriced and aren't much better than an Dell XPS.

I've had an XPS for a couple of years now and I can play pretty much any game at the highest settings without a problem.

The key components are:
-RAM (you should have at least 1Gb).
-Video card (any Nvidia 7XXX series and up will be plenty).
-Processor (Get at least a 3.0Ghz)
-Hard drive space (most games these days can take up to 5Gigs of space)
-Make sure the PC you buy has plenty of room for upgrading. (i.e. Extra hard drive slots etc.)
-Make sure your PC has at least one PCIe X16 slot (most next gen graphic cards require a PCIe X16 slot).

Hope this helps. Good luck!

if your willing to drop some cash .. alienware rocks.. care to save yourself some cash . go to alien ware find out the specifications for one of thier machines, and buy the parts to make it yourself (no you dont get a fancy case , but you could find one) now its easier then ever to build your own computer, there are alot of online tutorials that show you how. you will save money, learn how a computer works, and how to build one, along with some trouble shooting skills as well . i would stay away from vista for about a year untill they have the bugs worked out. go with an xp install instead..
