HI, I'm trying to major in computer science and thinking of doing something in the 3-d animation graphics arts or programming department.

I want to go to U.C. Davis really bad for this major, but the IGETC doesn't recommend this University.

I've researched a bit in assist.org and found out that
U.C. Irvine and San Diego are recomended by the IGETC plan..

But also a bunch of State Universities recommend Computer science as well, such as SF State, SJ State, LA state, Long Beach and plenty more I bet..

And so I've concluded that State Universities have more opportunities for my major than UC in California.. Although I still want to go to a Uc though.. But for the Computer Science majors attending a CA university, which university do your recommend and why?

thanks (:

Although..

I don't even want to think of going to UCB.. Just thinking of Univ gives me nightmares lol.. Lots of people recommend me to go there, including my Trig teacher this semester..

The reason why I said the state universities have more opportunities is because more of them in #'s seem to be recommended by IGETC then UC's..

In no way am I saying that State universities offer higher quality education then Uc's..

Going to a CSU does not mean that you will have more opportunities. It all depends on how strong the program at the school is. If the school is valued highly overall and the major you want is pretty strong, then you will get more opportunities.

UC Berkeley, UCSD, UCLA, Stanford, and Caltech are highly valued and the computer science programs are very good.

First, let me answer your main question:

The best universities in California are UC-Berkeley, Stanford and Cal Tech.

Now -- let me address the rest of your question. If you have the opportunity to go to a UC school over a CSU school -- take it -- no matter what IGETC says. All of the UC schools are highly ranked, prestigious, national universities. The worst of them (Riverside) is still higher ranked than the best university in the majority of the states in the US. UC Davis is particularly good -- as are UCI and UCSD.

None of the CSU schools are selective, and none are ranked highly. Your job opportunities coming out of a UC school will be much better than coming out of a CSU school.

That's interesting.
I don;t know how old is this post but I'm kinda in the same situation. I want to study programming then art, you can tell i wanna get in computer games. Anyways, i got admission to UCLA and BERKELEY as a computer science major but I'm kinda worried about Berkeley being too hard. And my sister is moving to california to stay with me cuz she got in CSUN, and that's a reason for me to go to UCLA to stay with her, but yet again, my brain has so little to provide So people I beg you, give me your thoughts.
