i work in a huge corporation and i am good friends with a particular guy. He is married and his wife works at the same company but in a separate department. i realize that a lot of people dont like me. should i say i am the type that people dislike for no reason. i can be a bit reserved and laid back at times. i have become a bit mature as a woman both in body and mind so i have had a lot of men admiring me. people have been saying that we are intimate but believe me we are only good friends i mean the type that you talk to about sports that could be your brother.i have tried for some time now to ignore it but each time i hear a new one i get really sad and embarrased. i am becoming really frustrated.

My grandmother always said, "If someone says something about you that isn't true, live so that no one will believe it."

I think it's good advice.

I think this is a form of harassment. First, you should contact the HR department. If they are as inept as your coworkers, file a nice, healthy-sized lawsuit. Their is no price you can but on your reputation, personal anguish, and career opportunities. Thats why we have attorneys. People need to learn to mind their own cotton-pickin' business!

Or you can ignore it.

Good luck!

I feel sorry for those gossipers who know nothing of what they talk about. Obviously they have nothing better to do than to talk about things that have nothing to do with them. It sounds as though there's some jeaulosy going on there.
Let them be what they are...untrue and unhappy. Be what you are and be proud. Hold your head up high and ignore them because you know they are wrong and it is what it is...old fashioned gossip.
Good luck
hopefully they'll find somone else to talk about soon.

If it gets to bothersome, you may need to take it to your H.R department, if you are hearing these rumors, I am sure that his wife is hearing them too! Things like this can get people fired, so my advice for you is for you to stay away from him, and tell your HR, so you will be covered, because eventually when you hear things over and over again, you know that people are going to make them true. Protect yourself, your reputation, and job!

Some people just like to stir up trouble, believe me: I know. The first answer seemed pretty good.
