As a babysitter myself I wouldn't feel confortable bringing my friends with me especially if there was an infant in the house. Not all friends can be as respectful and responsible as the sitter themselves. It's not a wonderful idea to allow it.

It's your house and your kids - you make the rules! I'd never allow my babysitter to have friends over!! The exception might be if she asked ahead of time and only if it was a babysitter of the same sex and stayed only an hour.

Children are our most valuable asset. It bothers me that people leave their children in substandard care. This is one job that when an incident occurs, we can't take it back. I am a licensed child care provider and am trained in CPR and First Aid. It is imperative you leave your child in a safe place while not in your care. So many situations could occur and if the provider isn't paying close attention to your child could result in fatality. You will have better peace of mind and will be able to accomplish work if you are secure in your child care choice. I would definitely have a "No Visitor" rule while watching your child. This is just not good practice.

I am not comfortable with this, I feel their attention will be taken away from my children. Although, my daughter babysits, and the parents always say she can bring along a friend. I don't say anything as long as I know the friend really well that she plans on bringing and know that they are mature and responsible and will HELP her babysit.

Don't allow it. If you don't approve tell the babysitter that if she does it again you'll get a new babysitter.

Absolutely not. What if you let someone watch your kid, and their friend came over, and they were horsing around, and your kid got hurt. They probally aren't going to pay much attention to your kid if their friend is there, and if they do pay attention they will probally be mean to the kid. I don't know - I wouldn't trust 'em.

I don't think it's a good idea unless the parents are aware of it and are ok with it.

I have let the sitter do that in the past, but when the obligation wasn't met to intertain my child (not just toss her in front of the TV so they could "chat") no visitors became my policy.
