I am 28 weeks pregnant and I was on Depo when we got pregnant. Every woman is different. It may take a week, a month, a year, etc. Its sort of like trying to have a baby when you arent on anything at all. Be patient and good luck.

What your Doctor told you was also what I was told. I think it's true, in that it will take 3 months to get out of your system and another 3 for you to regulate BUT after 3 months I did get pregnant, and then miscarried after 8 weeks. I was told this was due to my body not being ready yet after the depo provera.
To be safe, for you and the baby, I would wait 6 months, why risk putting yourself through the heartbreak of a miscarriage or your baby through the risk of you having rogue hormones still in your body that may harm the baby.
Good luck! I'm trying to get pregnant again now, 2 days later for my period today, fingers crossed.....

I had my last shot in sept 06, first period was middle of jan 07. I bled for weeks straight and went on the pill to regulate. Next period was regular and I conceived in March so it was about 6 months after my last shot. Then again you have to keep in mind I have always been completely regular and I had 3 previous pregnancies that took between 1 and 2 months to conceive each time including while on the pill so I've always been very fertile. I've heard it takes a lot of people longer.

Well like everyone said... it depends on the person. I was on depo for many years and stop taking it back in 2001. It took almost a year for it to get out of my system. It wasn't until I stop seeing my fiance at the time, did I get pregnant. So I would say... count for 6-12 months. Than again...you could be the lucky one!!! Good luck

Hi, I have been on depo all the time between children. When I had my last daughter I came off the depo, and we must have been trying over 12 months untill I finally got pregnant. It might be differant for some women.

Well, it took over 2 years before my periods even returned after Depo, but I have heard of people getting pregnant on Depo, too. I think it's a case by case situation, really.

Most information on Depo Provera says that it could take up to 3 to 6 months after the last shot to have a baby....it has to go through your system and it could take longer depending on your body.

I was pg 5 months after my last depo shot. So it was active for 3 months, then got pg basically 2 months after it wore off. Also never had a pd before I knew I was pg.
I was on depo for over 10 years straight previous to this.

I was on depo and it took me about a year to conceive. I honestly dont know if that is the "norm", although it seemed like forever a year goes by pretty fast! Good luck!
