American people are overwhelmingly supporting a troop pull-back, but repulicans who voted to support the funding bill were called traitors?

Is it more important to "betray" the people or the party? If the republican party is not speaking for the people, who is it speaking for? The previllege "upper class" group?

Because their hate is leaving the party in a shambles.

Bush is too stubborn to admit we have a mess on our hands, better to go down proud and clueless than actually admit, let alone change anything.

That's the GOP stategy: Everything is the Dems fault.

The same reason party loyalty is equally important to the Dems: it's the party that gets them on the ballot. Sure, the voters may technically put them in office, but, particularly with congressional reps, many districts are relatively 'safe' - whoever the Dems nominate in a Dem district is the next rep (I know my district is like that) - and, even if you're in a contested district, it's very hard to win without being on the ballot as one or the other party.

2008 is going to work out that way, too, the next president will be decided at the Dem primaries, not the general election (barring some dramatic turnaround in Iraq), so it's the party you have to play to, and the party that earns your loyalty.

Looking at what both parties are doing I can't believe either party still has any loyalty of the american public. When will you realise neither party is looking out for us, it's all about the corporations and lining their pockets for a few years. They should be ashamed that their loyalty is not to the public but we are not on their radar screen.

Can't people have different opinions without being called a traitor? No one is betraying anybody!

I think the GOP is listening more to the people than the dems! The dems, and Bush, are pushing amnesty. The GOP isn't. PEOPLE DON'T WANT AMNESTY!

They will pay dearly in the 2008 elections with a Democratic landslide both in the White House and in both chambers of Congress.

Both parties are more interested in their party than in the country. If that were not the case, we wouldn't have so much garbage that gets passed in DC. There's tons of subsidies, tax breaks, special laws, influence, etc.

I am a hard working middle class American who enjoys her freedom, pays taxes, and truly believe that eventually the terrorists will get the best of us.

Complacency will be our downfall, in my opinion.

So why would what I believe in make me any more of a traitor than you are?

SO YOUR SAYING THAT IT'S BETTER TO SUPPORT ALL THE SELF SERVING INDIVIDUALISTIC DEMOCRATS. I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START THEY SEEM TO ALL BE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT . THE DEMS HATE EACH OTHER MORE THAN THEY HATE THE REPUBLICANS. THE DEMS HAVE BEEN IN POWER FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW AND HAVE YET TO PASS A SIGNIFICANT BILL. THEY SUCK.
