I'm interested about residency programs - for medical residents, to specialize on a medical field.

Harvard - has more to offer for research and international health and a better link for residencies than Yale - again going back to your needs - there are many better medical schools that are non-Ivy - depending on your field such as the University of Washington and University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (primary medicine) Think about the ROI - return on your investment in terms of time and money and what you want to be doing for the rest of your life

I agree with the other user noting US News and World Reports. It is more important what respectable publications rank the school and one specialty can actually be better than another at different schools so be aware of what you plan to specialize in. Also, there are other medical schools that have ranked above one or both of those two in recent years. Some schools may be cheaper for you AND more respected to the people it would matter to---those who will hire you in the future. I used to work for a medical school that one year (I think, in 2000) ranked above Yale and possibly above Harvard or close to it. They were selective but not nearly as hard to get into AND the education was rated tops and still is.

It is funny to read peole putting out opinions without knowing a thing. One entry above says tha Yale is better for Medicine while Harvard is better for law. The ranking say just the opposite.

Harvard is the top rated Medical school according to US News & World Reports. They rank Yale as the top law school.

But the truth is both are great programs.

I find Harvard has a really good repuation for their law school.
Although both sound very excellent, for medical school, I'd pick Yale just because they don't focus on just one sort of emphasis in their curriculum, and they seem to be open to more things, opportunity-wise. Harvard seems to like to test things out, theorize, and teach others. I suppose the question is more like, "which university better fits your personality and needs?"

Anyways, this is my answer:
Medical=Yale
Law=Harvard

Hmmmm, choosing Med colleges in accordance to suggestion from a Yahoo answer web site?????? How particularly scary is THAT? for my section, i might want to %. Harvard, yet because you want to be board qualified to practice, both grant you with what you want.....the question is, what type of learner are you? A Theorectalist, who reads and receives lectured cloth? Kinesthetic? You study through doing? THAT determines that is "more advantageous positive", the school that matches your form and needs more advantageous positive. Plus, you would possibly want to need to attend a school that isn't thoroughly in synch with your "form" so that you're compelled to enhance your getting to be conscious of repetoire, to study new concepts to study....

Yale and Harvard have been rivals in almost everything for most of their history, notably academics, rowing and American football.

You can't go wrong with either.
