You can take Ibuprofen up to your 3rd trimester if it helps. Also my OB said a lot of pain medication like vicodin, percocet, etc....does NOT cross the placenta. Therefore making it OK to take if necessary. Talk to your OB you would be suprised at whats ok to take while pregnant. Tylenol is not the only option out there. Hope you feel better, I know how much migraines suck.

I suffer from very sever and debilitating migraines. When pregnant they are not quite as painful, but still debilitatingly so. My OB has me on a standing prescription for Tylenol with Codeine to be taken as needed for the headaches and that seems to help. MANY women on here and everywhere else bash me for taking Tylenol 3 while pregnant, but they don;t have the medical degree my doctor has and they do not know my history with migraines. The most recent hospitalization last summer lasted 1 month and had me in and out of MRI's looking for brain bleeds while they had me almost continuously hooked up to a morphine drip. I was also able to experience my first spinal tap. My speech was obliterated and all i could get to come out of my mouth were garbled words that made n o sense once strung together, noone could understand me, I also lost my ability to spell correctly or even the right word that i was trying to spell. Wanting to spell help and writing food does not get your point across. My sense of smell went out the window as well, cereal smelled like dirty cat litter for instance. I was throwing up daily and had to be fed by IV as I could not keep food in my stomach.

Migraines can be a serious medical condition that should be treated by you and your doctor. If you have an OB that you trust please bring these concerns up to him or her and ask what the best course of treatment for you is. Don;t listen to women who tell you you can only take regular tylenol or whatnot, your doctor knows what you can take. While I know that medical professionals are not gods and can make mistakes as well, they did go to school for an awfully long time and have more knowledge about these things than the majority of people, especially those on here.

I am 20 weeks pregnant and I have found that the following helps a lot

hot baths
cold/hot compress
smelling lemons (strange, but it helps for headaches just as much as it helps for morning sickness)
and good old naps are a great way to get rid of migraines too.

Headaches and migraines are common during pregnancy as my doctor told me, but if it starts to cause things such as nosebleeds, you definitely want to get it checked out.

I hope you start feeling better soon, hun!

You should talk to your OB.

I'm an OB and we have lots of pregnant women with migraines. We've had them take Tylenol with codeine, demerol, fiorocet, ecedrin migraine, percocet, intravenous morphine, depakote, propanalol.

Anyone who tells you that you may only take tylenol really doesn't know what they're talking about.

Caffeine is also known to help. I was fine with this when I was pg, personal decision.

i complained to my doctor of the same thing. Sometimes they are unbarrable but my doc also recommended Tylenol. absolutely nothing else because it can harm the baby. Try extra strength, it works for me

unfortionately, the only medication that you can take is standard Tylenol. The only consolation i can give you, is that the red 8hour tylenol pills actually taste pretty good, so they are easy to swallow. good luck
