I read somewhere that her full name is Anita Plath Helle, and I have been looking all over for information of how, if at all, she is related to the poet Sylvia Plath? Sylvia is by far my favorite female writer and I am an avid reader of all information about her and when I found out about the new book that came out in 2/07 I was/am at my wits end to find out if the author is any relation to Sylvia. I thought perhaps she is the daughter of Warren, Sylvia's younger brother, but I cannot find any info one way of another????? I know it may seem lame but I really would love to know? Is there anyone out there that can help me? If you can please tell me where and how you found out the info? Thank you!

A big THANK YOU to those(2) who answered. I should have been clearer; I know the general info about both of Sylvia and Ted's children (Frieda&Nick). I was wondering if the author Anita Helle is an extended relation to Sylvia at all, that's what I was wondering, if anyone happened to know if Anita's "full"name is Anita Plath Helle? And if so, I wanted to know if the Plath part is connected to Sylvia Plath in any way. Thanks Again....

She is an associate professor at Oregon State. Ask her.

Here is more information from the Sylvia Plath Forum, but it doesn't mention a child named Anita:

What has happened to Sylvia Plath's children?

Frieda Hughes went to art school and is now a highly regarded artist. She lived for some years in Australia but has returned to England this year with Laszlo Lukacs, her Hungarian artist husband. She began to write herself in 1986 when she published her children's book "Getting Rid Of Edna". She has just had her first collection of poems "First Pressings" published by Faber which has received favourable reviews and contains distinct echoes of Plath. Another book "Wooroloo" is due out in February published by Harper/Flamingo in the US and Bloodaxe in the UK. She has also replaced Olwyn Hughes as the literary executor of her mother's estate.

Nick has followed a scientific career and is working in Alaska as a marine biologist.

I did a quick google search and I saw that she participated in a conference on Sylvia Plath.

Google her name and you will probably find your answer but I didn't see anything that suggested she was a relative of Plath's.

This is not an answer. I just had to register my sentiment.
I don't even claim to understand all of SP's poems, but The Bell Jar, I think I got that for sure. SP and Anne Sexton and their writings have haunted me since my teen years. I miss them.

I was glad to read that SP's children have found careers that will possibly fulfill their artistic genes/passions.

I know Linda Gray Sexton has furthered her mom's writings thru editing and so forth. I should look her up.

Your question takes me back to dormant interests. Thanks for that.

Added: I wrote a poem/eulogy for Sexton. My shrink was her neighbor. so I felt I knew her...all this at age sixteen. I wish I had known SP.
