why does the car shake when i am stopped at a stop light?

The harmonic balance might need to be replaced.
Does it squeak sometimes too?

Some car simply do this, sorry to say. But if it's a recent change, then start to worry-I'd bring it into a mechanic. It may be an idle speed problem, or perhaps an engine problem that isn't noticeable at higher engine speeds.

Your car more than likely needs a Tune up. You could also have a broken motor support.

without knowing the specifics it sounds like you need a tune up or you have a bad tranny or engine mount
