I am a stepchild, and i don't think there is a name for it. We are just a family. Period.
Yes, my dad is considered remarried, but we are all just a family regardless.

Blended famillies..
The Brady Bunch is an excellent example of a blended family (not the situations but the actual make up of the family)..
Carol and her daughters Marcia, Jan and Cindy
Mike and his sons Greg, Peter and Bobby..
Carol and Mike marry making each of them stepparents and each of there children a stepchild and stepsibling..
The family is blended

They are known as simply a family with the exception of the blood line.
I raised a Stepdaughter and there were times I told her that if she was my blood daughter I would put a whoopin on your butt for her bad mouoth. I got all the ridicule "Your not my Father you can;t tell me what to do". I replied,
Your wrong I am your friend and that cares about you and Mother why not be alittle more kind.
Believe it or not, she thanks me today for being who I was.
I helped her into College and she is married , but no kids yet.
As for me and her Mother unfortunatley a divropce is as stake and that's inevitable
I put her daughter through College and this the thanks I get from her Mother...lol

Why do you need a label? I think that it's hard enough to work on establishing a loving relationship where everyone is open to communications and respecting where each member has come from...stay away from the labels and enjoy each other for what they bring to the relationship.

They are called families. When you start putting a label on things as simple as parents caring for their children, it makes them sound like less of a family.

Family......there doesn't need to be a special word for it. Especially since it's so friggin' common these days.....it's more rare to come across a family that isn't filled with step parents and kids.
