People who die young or in their prime have their talents exaggerated because people wonder how much more they could have done. It is natural to assume that a person will get better over time but it isn't always true.

Yes I agree one of the problems WCW had was not giving their young talent a chance. It was always the same guys on top at the main event like Hogan, Sting, Nash, Flair, Savage, Luger. The only guys that got a push in WCW was Goldberg, DDP, and The Giant aka Big Show. Towards the end WCW pushed guys like Booker T, and Scott Steiner but by then WCW was already a mess creative wise, and it was too late. Eric Bischoff really wasn't the problem, it was really the people in charge of booking the matches not giving the younger talent a push. Also what hurt was wrestlers like Hulk Hogan had creative control and alot of the time refused to put the younger talent over which he is known to do. Which also hurt WCW was the lack of good storylines, and poor decisions like The "Fingerpoke of Doom" using the nWo storyline too long (although it was great at first they kept going with it too long), Vince Russo becoming a booker, David Arquette winning the WCW championship which damaged the titles prestige dramatically, and other bad storylines/decisions. Also it really hurt WCW when Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn jumpshiped to the WWF as the Radicalz. They lost 4 of there most talented guys to the WWF. WCW had so much talent it was incredible. Looking back they had guys like Steve Austin, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Triple H, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Buff Bagwell, and others. They could have pushed those guys and used them right, WCW would probably still be in business today. I myself also have the Monday Night Wars on VHS and it was a great documentary. BQ:) I hope it is an actual major change to TNA and not a letdown. I am hoping it is new management like Paul Heyman, 2nd show like a WCW Thunder, or WWE Smackdown, or they announce they fire Hulk Hogan lol..., return of the 6 sided ring, or the rumor which is the 3 monthly PPV's and having ppv tv shows. I think it would be better for TNA to have 6 PPVs instead of 3 so they wouldn't lose money, 1 PPV every two months would be the best idea IMO. An ECW stable would be great to see in TNA if they do it right, and have the right guys. Paul Heyman also needs to be in TNA in order for the ECW to truly work imo. BQ2:) No I honestly don't see Wade Barrett pulling a David Arquette and defeating John Cena for the belt. WWE knows better than not to let a rookie win the WWE title. It would hurt the prestige of the WWE belt if an NXT rookie wins it. If he won against John Cena it would most likely be a non title defense.

I think many were very talented, but an early death adds to their mystique, which is just as important as talent, as far as being recognized goes. Plus, people get a chance to re-evaluate the artist's work while that style is popular and well understood when the person dies early. Conversely, if some jazz musician dies at age 101 after being retired for 50 years, it's barely going to make a blip on anyone's radar, because interest in that type of music has faded already, and there's not the context immediately available.

Paul Newman
Robert Redford
Morgan Freeman
Donald Sutherland
Ronald Reagan

Examples of great actors who have lived long, healthy, productive lives. The list goes on.

I would agree with the exaggeration theory. River Phoenix was a great actor, but got caught up in the pitfalls of Hollywood.

The time frame is now getting shorter and shorter we celebrate them less. With 400 TV channels, someone else just takes their place.
