Said he couldn't recall something.

But, don't act surprised. It is common to both parties.

Kena2mi writes "Whatever happened to the old Department of Justice? The non-partisan one that was entrusted with protecting our basic civil and property rights, and acting as a watchdog over our elected government? Did the Patriot Act do away with that as well?"

Does Kena2mi not remember when William Jefferson Clinton became President in 1993, Attorney General Janet Reno fired EVERY attorney in the Justice Department? Were there hearings over that? No. I guess politics as usual is bad when it is not your party doing it, but fine when your party is. Double standard there, that one is.

Peace

Lied. Or admitted incompetency. Has to be one or the other when the head of the DOJ claims he knew or remembered nothing about a purge of Federal prosecutors, despite significant evidence to the contrary. Either he was rubber-stamping decisions by his inferiors, in which case he's unfit for the position, or he's guilty of purjory.
