Why not ask a question 'softly'?? Whatever that is to mean.

But apparently, the only way for a group of people to get rights and benefits is to scream. That's how women got the right to vote. That's how the Civil Rights Act of 1964 came about.

We are Americans and are expected to bear more than our share of the responsibility that comes along with it. We want the rights and privileges that come along with those responsibilities.

The same things were said about blacks in the 1960's. All they did was complain about their rights and issues.

I guess if you were being oppressed, you'd complain too.

I guess you could call me greedy for wishing to marry my wife, or to have survivor benefits, or insurance and tax breaks, but OH WAIT, we're heterosexual, so that isn't greedy for us, it's only greedy for gay and lesbians to want the same thing.

Rights: Rights to marry the person you are in love with; Rights to keep from being fired for your sexuality; The right to not be thrown out of housing (apt) for who you are; the right to visit your life-long partner in the ICU; the right to inherit or have someone inherit from you the same way a spouse would, and the right to adopt without crap from religious idiots making the laws.

If you say you are liberal, you certainly haven't looked into the situation very deeply.

Why would you post a question calling us greedy then ask us to answer you softly?

Follow death's advice read something then ask your self if that sounds like freedom to you?

If you cant see this issue for what it is Freedom then how can you call yourself a liberal?

I don't want special rights, I want equality, I want full assimilation. I want GLBTS, an entire sexual spectrum, no separation, just full acceptance, and then we can move on from this stupid issue.

I am not greedy, and for you to infer that based on my sexuality is stereotyping. The only thing you can tell about me from my sexuality is who I'm attracted to, no more no less. It's not a window into my soul, it does not rule my life, it's merely in the fineprint.

So, back to the question, give me full assimilation and let me be. I'm tired of this whole argument. We're not seperate, or different, just varied, stop treating us like second class citizens.

Yes, we want divorce, too. It's good to have the ability to settle those issues in a civilized way.

LGBTs do work on other issues. My wife works with Russian immigrants and bats who have lost their habitats to wind farms and construction; I have gotten increasingly involved in environmental and peace activism, as well as work in preserving First Amendment freedoms. Most politically active LGBTs I know have other issues.

But I will give you the image that my ex-boyfriend, who is also bisexual, gave me. He compared the LGBT cause to being a firefighter. He'd have loved to go out and work for others' issues and causes, put out fires elsewhere, but as LGBT people, we keep finding that our equipment is getting stolen and sabotaged by people who hate us. So we have to keep working on getting our own stuff taken care of. If your home is on fire, is it rational to go save a cat in a tree? No. You have to take care of your own first.

I find that our lives are used as diversions from other issues that affect more people. Unfortunately, our real lives get affected in real ways.

"softly?"

No, sorry, there's no answering your question "softly" when it's apparent you don't know your Constitution.

I have an idea, why don't you read up on the 1,138 RIGHTS afforded by LEGAL MARRIAGE and then come back and ask that again!?

It's a 75 Page report, so it might take you a while.

Do you disparage women or African-Americans when they campaign for equal rights?

It's the SAME THING.

Funny, I have never described the Civil Rights battles of the 60s-70s, and the people who fought them, as "greedy." But then again, I'm not a bigot.

I think they just want the same rights as everyone else. I don't really think its an issue of greed, its more and issue of fairness.

All you do is complain about LGBT, look in the mirror, what are you good for?

We just want the best life that we can have with our respective partners and if that means fighting for our rights and issues then so be it. I'm not one to complain though.
