A lot of men have them to varying degrees.. Whether it's suddenly coloring away the grey or buying a sports car to feel young again..

Even women have mid-life crisis look at all the plastic stugery and stay young forever products..

A mid-life crisis is all about the ego, narsisism and the self..

Men and women both reach an age where they suddenly face thier own aging and mortality and have a bit of a freak out about it.. Most men and women have a few months of crisis and learn to accept they are aging and try to do so gracefully... Others completely freak out and change thier entire lifes...

A mid-life crisis is only a bad thing when it is taken to an extreme..

Both men and women experience this emotion or "stage" in life, but it is most commonly associated with 1) feelings of self-doubt, and/or 2) unrealistically high expectations.

If you get to "know yourself" early in life, recognize what your likes, dislikes and passions are, you can organize your life into comfortable patterns of work and leisure. You can "balance" your life, so to speak, between taking care of various "obligations" and then spending your other time and effort on either some "productive" or "non-productive" pursuit.

That way, you won't come to some mid-point in your life and wonder "who" you are.

The too-high expectation thing can mess you up just the same, if you have some kind of "goal" early in life and then a few decades down the line, find that you haven't come close to your "goal."

I saw this happen with a boss of mine. He was basically a pretty decent fellow, husband and father, but he just put this unrealistic financial goal on his shoulders and then got all bummed-out at one point when he didn't "measure up."

So, bottom line is, get to "know yourself," and don't be so finely focused on material gains.

Of course they do. WOmen go through it when they go through menopause. Men have their version and oftentimes it is worse then a woman because we have hormone therapy & etc., men are left to struggle with their ageing and securities without any of the help. A man going through mid-life crisis needs support and constant reassurance that the people and woman in his life still need him and more importantly want him.

They absolutely do; it can happen anywhere between the mid 30's to early fifties. It's when he starts to slow down, and feel his age. Some do all kinds of crazy nonsense to convince themselves they've still got it.

One thing I can explain definitively: The reason for the trophy wife is because she is always younger. Women in their twenties to early thirties have a sex drive which is more compatible with a middle aged man. The wife he already has is in her peak, he can't keep up, and instead of working on it and communicating, he bails.

Sure they do, how can you explain that new motorcycle in my garage if they dont? They lived their youth now they are middle aged and oh sh*t where did it go and they panic and try to be young again, if we love them we try to ignore the new behavior until he either smartens up or falls off the bike, either way he will eventually figure out he is to old to run with the young pups and may as well sleep on the porch with the old dogs.

Yes, men have mid-life crises. It's pretty common. Many women have them too, but usually not to the same degree that men do.

Yes, I believe they do. I believe woman do too. I think it's only natural at some point in your life to think that the best years have gone by and you want to try to recapture that.
