I'd recomend a 75 wat which should be perfect. Don't put the light any closer as your turtle may be able to strech and accidently touch it and be burnt.

if it is ajustable siple move it close to the basking area. if not then go up in increments of wattage, ie try 60, 65, 75, 85, 100, 115,120 etc untiil youi reach the right temp.
aslo when going above 60 make sure that the fixture can with stand the temps. most lamps in hardware stores can take upto 150W or 250W.

There is no hard and fast rule for wattage, but I'd say that yes, you probably need at least a 75-100 watt bulb. It's all trial and error, just make sure your fixture can handle the wattage you use. (The smaller ones you get at pet stores are only rated for 60 watts)

Yes. 60 is not nearly strong enough to accomplish the goal of about 90F.
You might want to consider a true reptile basking bulb- good heat, more balanced light...
Better yet, get a bigger bulb and add a UVB light as well so your turtle can get its vitamin D3 as well!

Hello, sounds like it shuold be stronger, but check the lamp for how many watts it can handle ..especially if it's plastic..but bulbs have to be on Dimmer Switches ..so they can be adjusted if things get too warm, they're @ Wal Marts & Hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowes too, there are heater strips but they only work best under glass bottoms, like aquariums .. we use metal clamp on lamps, they can found same place as the dimmer switches..Take Care:)

It sounds like the temperature is fine. However, do you have a UVB light or can you bring them out into direct sunlight? These turtles are more likely to come out when they have a light on them. Keeping a light on them for about 12 hours a day also helps prevent brumation.

I would think so.... Also you might try raising the basking area if possible.
