What are the Polynomial and Factored Forms?

Question

I'm currently in Algebra II and I need to know what the Polynomial and Factored Forms are. I've looked all over the internet and had no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Let's do a simple example of the two.

Polynomial form
x^2 + 3x + 1

Factored form
(x + 1)(x + 2)
