Pull our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan immediately! I would challenge the "Privately Owned" Federal Reserve Act and get our money back into the people's hands. I would rescind the 1947 National Security Act and the Classified Information Procedures Act. I would abrogate the Birth Certificate and Social Security Card. I would consider putting term limits on congress. I would open all UFO files from our respective intelligence agencies. I would prosecute every senator and congressman/woman who signed the unconstitutional PATRIOT ACT. I would open a real 9/11 commission to investigate the events of that day.
In closing I would have someone did my grave, effective immediately.

All Federal Agencies performing tasks not found in the Constitution are now closed.
The IRS will immediately cease withholding from paychecks, and by April 1 of next year will have the tax code simplified to 20 pages or less, and there will be one tax form for everyone, which will not exceed a single page.
I will veto any bill on any subject that is greater than 25 pages in length.
All State Department Employees are immediately fired, and can be immediately rehired if they sign on to a mission statement that their job is to represent the US to foreign countries, not vice-versa.
A budget containing pork allocations might be signed anyway, but fair warning is given that I will afterward forbid actual payment of such pork allocations by a specific Executive Orders.

It's interesting to note that a couple of liberals here that are the first and the loudest to complain about President Bush, say they wouldn't take the job. You'd think they'd like the opportunity to run things "the right way."
That aside, Rice would be my vice president, Bon Jovi would play at my inagural ball, "short" would be in, border patrol would have the authority to shoot any and all who didn't "halt." Rosie and Hillary would be slapped with a gag order. My fiance' would be Secretary of State, I would do my best to abolish frivolous law-suits (like I'm so offended that I saw a cross, or a rebel flag, or someone said a racial slur) If you spill hot coffee on yourself, you get fined for being stupid and wasting the court's time and taxpayer's money. Lobbyiest will be shot on sight. John Kerry and his wife will be asked to leave the country. Ted Kennedy will be required to go to rehab or leave the country. Newsreporters will become reporters again, the Nancy Grace's will be sent back to the unemployement line.

I would hire James Baker as my Secretary of State, Colin Powell as my Secretary of Defense (unless I could convince him to be my VP). I would hire Rudy Giuliani as the Director of FEMA. I would hire Gen. Wesley Clark as Secretary of Homeland Security.
My first message to the World would be to adopt the Powell Doctrine of US military involvement. This would tell the world loud and clear that we will not continue unilateral military action, that we will not engage in pre-emptive invasions, that we will work for international cooperation. As my first message, this will tell the world that we want to be the LEADER, not the BULLY. We want to lead from a standpoint of RESPECT, not FEAR.
I would keep troops in Iraq only as long as they needed to be there to train Iraqis and maintain peace while we work through the steps of the Iraq Study Group to gain international support and assistance. I would set a goal to have all US troops out of Iraq and Iraq able to stand on its own within 1 year.
I would want to quickly resolve these military issues so that I can turn to what I consider to be the greatest threats to the US: the national debt, and to the world, global climate change.

my two best friends would be my personal advisers (one is a Hippie, the other is a Fiscal Republican). I'd start by saying in my inaugural speech that "We, the United States of America have made mistake. Our administrations have been deaf to the voice of the heart of this great nation and have failed them for it.. but I pledge, that with the understanding and help of the people.. we shall rise above and restore our name. As of today, we will be instilling a series of benchmarks for Iraq, the penalty for failing to adhere to these benchmarks is and advancement of the date in which all combat troops shall be removed from the Area.. success in reaching these goals will be met with giving the Iraqi government the choice of how to proceed.. they may choose from a limited extension to total troop time, shortening of total troop time if they feel it is appropriate, monetary compensation or other options as may be deemed appropriate at the time. Effective today, the date for troop withdrawal is set for 1.5 years. 3 months shall be lost by the Iraqi government for each failed benchmark. I believe in Democracy. And I believe that the Iraqi's can complete the objectives we have set before them... but I also believe in helping people in need.. and the Liberal in me will not allow me to leave the people of Iraq without the tools needed to promote their own civilization.. so it is at this time that I call on the rest of the nations of the free world to aid us in our quest to right the wrongs and build a stable, free Iraq."
that's off the top of my head.

I would humbly accept the position. Then I would hire all kinds of people with different backgrounds and education levels. I would hire a few people from the right and a few people from the left, activists and fanatics are good for outside ideas. But most of the people I would hire would be from the center of the political spectrum because those are the people who actually get things done. That way we could take the ideas that our fanatical brethren on either side have and actually do something to implement those ideas. Because without fanatics women and blacks would not have the right to vote. However, the fanatics just brought it up and the centrists got it done. That seems to be the way things work.
Then, I would overturn, if I could all legislation dealing with the banning of smoking cigarettes, the ban on using trans-fats, the bans on drugs and the legal drinking age. Seeing as it is not the government's job to tell me what to put into my own body. I would keep out of my White House all these "do-gooders" who want to make the world as mundane and boring as their own lives. People who want to run this country like its some sort of Jesus-created society would be put on the back-burner if left on the stove at all.
I would lower taxes for everyone and cut out a major portion of the bullshit jobs the government offers. I would rid this country of the IRS and cut spending by about 50%. I would use tax dollars coming in from the sales of now-forbidden things like marijuana along with not spending money on the enforcement of stupid laws by groups like the ATF to subsidize the small tax burden that every person would equally feel with a flat tax.
I would do my damnedest to make sure the government did not pry into people's everyday lives as it seems to want to do now. I would not have seatbelt laws and helmut laws. If you don't want to wear your seatbelt then that's your own decision and I will not take blame when your dumbass 17 year old kid who isn't wearing a seatbelt is killed in a car accident. These things are not my fault and not the governments fault and sometimes a little thinning of the herd is needed if you catch my drift.
My first message to the world would be one of support for all countries on this planet. I would talk to Iran and Syria, I would talk to North Korea. It seems to me that diplomacy and communication is a good way to go about ending disputes instead of holding grudges and having pissing contests to see who can last longer. I would talk to our enemies in hopes (I know a bit idealistic) of turning them into friends or at least someone we can co-exist with. Also, if they are going to "hate us for our freedom," wouldn't it be nice to experience some of that freedom for which they hate us?
All in all, I would like to think that making me President of this great country would have the outcome of good for those involved. Of course all of this could be a lot easier if we didn't have a fanatical Congress to deal with, but I doubt as President it would be in my power to disban the Congress. So we will just deal with them and make the best of what I'm sure would be an interesting situation to say the least. These are the things I would do and that's just in the first day or two. Thanks and have a nice day.

I would change our tactics on dealing with terrorism from reactive to proactive - specifically, I would invest in the agencies that can prevent such attacks (CIA, FBI, DHS). I would computerize all medical records, this would save billions each year. I would make public education competitive with international standards for first world countries. Decrease government entitlement programs with the exception of education assistance which I would increase dramatically. I would look for the most moderate candidates of both parties to assist. It's important to include all perspectives.

I would accept.
1. I would use foreign aid for leverage, you don't cooperate or try to help your self then no money.
2. Go after the terrorists more aggressively. All those people you see on TV cheering around a burning US vehicle all need to be killed also.
3. More transparency in budgeting. Catering to lobbyist and sneaking in unrelated stuff in a bill would be illegal and impeachable.
4. I would encourage more nuclear power and US oil exploration to reduce foreign oil.
5. My staff would be people who understand integrity and would be held accountable for all that they do.
