Since everyone said yes - what would be the best thing to do? I would like to report them and leave negative feedback so others will know what type of a customer they're dealing with, but I have a perfect rating and would not want it to go down because of the customer retaliating. What's the best thing to do in this situation?

You have to think carefully about whether you want to allow him to hold your feedback hostage.....if we are all too afraid to leave neg. for deadbeat bidders, the entire system fails. Don't sweat so hard over the perfect-feedback thing......it's not that big of a deal. Anyone with half a brain will see that you left the buyer a neg and he retaliated...not to mention, if they do leave you a neg. you will be given the opportunity to respond underneath and explain the retaliation.

I have been an eBay seller for more than 5 years and have gotten some retalitory negs....never affected the bidding so really, don't sweat the small stuff.

yes but dont hesitate to do it. i know when i see a seller with negative feedback, i investigate because i know a buyer will leave a negative rating out of spite. someone sold me a broken phone clip that took 2 weeks in the same state and complained after i did even though i paid the same day.

Yes, they can and the best thing to do is report them to e-bays investigating fraud team.
Tell them what happened and ask them too look in to it. However your feed back is not going to be romoved. If they already did feed back to you then leave honest feed back towards them and If it is bad it is bad but it is the truth. You can explain (or counter argue) the feedback comments as well (within the feedback forums)try that also.

Unfortunately yes. Its one of the flaws of the ebay ranking system. You can get a retaliatory negative feedback from someone even though you did nothing wrong (and they did). I've had it happen to me.
