The day the music died is Feb 3, 1959 when Richie Valens, The Big Bopper, and Buddy Holly died in a plane crash outside Clear Lake, Iowa. This was 11 years to the day before I was born. I doubt I was a twinkle in my parents eyes then.

the day john lennon was murdered?
I did not hear until that evening while sitting in a bar watching the news. It was cold outside and flurries were predicted for that evening. a silence fell over the bar as people started to pay more attention to the news and conversation started again and everyone was talking about the same thing.
a sad day for the world.
