A minute or two at best. No O2 in the beer.

My guess is until you drink all the beer and they are just flopping around on the bottom of the bowl.
I'd go with a lite beer, it'll be easier to see them.
To those of you with the low oxygen content in the beer. True, but remember gold fish are carp, carp can live in very low oxygen levels. OH they'll die for sure posioned to death, but at least this question was humours.

He'd last about 5-30 seconds... go into a stupor from alcohol poisoning... then within 10 minutes he'd be dead (he will probably look dead after about 40 seconds).
If you plop him in grain alcohol, he will be dead on contact. His body will possibly shoot him out of the vodka as a nervous reaction, but it would be too late for him.
Alcohol is much more potent to fish than it is to humans.... Even a little (like the lower percentages in beer) is deadly, since its absorbed via their gills with little resistance.

Considering that you said you aren't really going to do this, I'll answer without freaking out as others have. Considering that beer does not have a high oxygen content, your fish would not last very long at all. Fish depend on filtering water through their gills to survive, and beer would essentially suffocate them. Furthermore, the pH in beer is not good for any creature.
And to your buddies,no, the fish would not be drunk. Any odd behavior would be caused from oxygen deprivation. Please rely on this answer instead of trying it yourself!

Well, if it's Molson Canadian, he will most likely evolve and live a healthy and happy life in the beer. Just make sure to always refill with Molson Canadian. Most other beer, lets say Labbat 50 for example will likely make him age, become less interested in women, lazy, and eventually die. cjd.

I have tried this and there are two problems. First, my car wouldn't start, the alcohol content was way too low and the goldfish clogged up the fuel filter Second, the gold fish were way too soggy to eat and hard to fish out.

Exactly as long as you and your friends will last in the tank of a beer factory.

Not for long. Goldfish needs oxygenated water for them to breath underwater.

Your fish will be totally drunk from the first breath and dead after 5. this is the way they euthanize fish in booze, not beer but vodka and water.
