David Bowie (during his peak in the 70's he could do no wrong), just pure genius really. Best song is a bit harder, either Heroes or Life on Mars? Both just outstanding and lifelong favourites.

Miss Independent by Kelly Clarkson. (female wise) I love her vocal range she can do through the song, espically love the part when she sings and a second voice of hers plays (around 2:14 minute mark.)

Male wise: Eminem (Lose Yourself) - unlike many other rappers both in the US & UK Eminem tells about personal experiences (eg Like Toy Soldiers was wrote about how his rapper friend Proof died and how angry it was about it). At least he talks about his experiences with life instead of the usual cars , girls , guns , drugs , 'homies' etc.
