"Heat from the flames exceeded 2,750 degrees, shot 200 feet into the air and caused the steel beams holding up the interchange from eastbound I-80 to eastbound Interstate 580 above to buckle. Bolts holding the structure together melted, leading to the collapse"

But, but, but, but....all the 9/11 conspiracy nut job wackos said that their made up physics says fire cannot burn that hot. Does this mean that it was actually terrorists that flew the planes into the WTC towers?

In Detroit in 2000 a gasoline tanker truck exploded on the elevated overpass exit ramp from I-75 to I-94. Also the explosion of a gasoline tanker truck will leave a big crater in the highway.

A gasoline tanker crashed and burst into flames near the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge creating such intense heat that a stretch of highway melted and collapsed.

It may not seem that burning gasoline is so hot but burning gasoline has a temperature above 1500° E (945° C). Therefore, it can heat objects in the fire area above its ignition temperature.

Steel is not an element. It is a compound. The melting point of steel depends on the mixture of the elements it contains.

Iron (Fe) is an element that is the main component of steel. The "melting point" of iron is
1535.0 °C (1808.15 K, 2795.0 °F)
http://www.chemicalelements.com/elements/fe.html

Steel is an alloy comprised mostly of iron, with a carbon content between 0.02 % and 1.7 % by weight, depending on grade. Carbon is the most cost-effective alloying material for iron, but various other alloying elements are used such as manganese and tungsten.

At what temperature does a floor truss begin to sag if it is not coated in fire-resistant insulation? How hot can a fire burn if it is well (very well) ventilated? 1000 degrees F? 2000 degrees F? According to NASA jet fuel CAN burn as hot as 3000 degrees F. See this video to understand how the WTC tower 1 and 2 collapsed...the drywall was the "inside agent"

The high temperatures of the burning jet fuel, steel, plastics and other components made the whole area intensely hot and structures nearby were irrepairably damaged (building 7).

Rosie O'Donnell will be leaving "The View" in June. Rosie O'Donnell used emotion to obfuscate fact and her celebrity status to rally people to impeach President Bush. On "The View " Rosie O'Donnell adamantly declared that, "it was the first time in history that fire melted steel' (in building 7 of WTC).

See, now YOUR confusing that gay woman from the view, as "all of those conspiracy nut job wackos", when in reality, she is just one person. It sounds much better, when you identify Rosie, rather than stereotyping and including everyone that disagrees with the president is a wacko. Heat is how you make steel in the first place, so why wouldn't also hold true that heat can melt it, after it is hardened? After all, most cars, once they live their productive lives, are smashed into little cubes and thrown into the blast furnace and melted down to make new steel.

Yes, fire is used to melt steel all the time.

Even if the melting point is not reached, the steel can be weaked by the heat. Steel is an alloy of Iron and carbon, and both will burn. Also the heat destroys the tempering of steel, weakening it.

The supporting concrete, dehydrates when heated and turns to a powder.

Depending on the alloy, about 3000 degrees is needed to melt steel. By melting, I mean turn to liquid. Again, depending on the alloy, steel can soften at 2500 degrees or lower. It isn't necessary for the steel to melt completely, and softening of the steel, causes the stresses on the structure to shift, which can cause failure.

Of course not. It means that the Bush Administration attacked the bridge, obviously. They are the only ones with that Top Super Crypto Secret of how to melt steel.

Fire can't melt steel? Do they think it's mined in a huge chunk and sculpted into structural shapes or what?

Maybe Yuri Geller was tired of bending spoons and went for something bigger? C'mon, that makes as much sense as anything the 9/11 conspiracy moonbats can come up with.

Seriously dude, buckle and steel and concrete were still visible. I didn't see a volcano of dust, but drink all the lies you think you can handle. There was more gas in that tanker than those airplanes..

And seriously dude the concrete and steel is still visible.

You are the wacko nut job that can't see the truth.

Of course fire can melt steel..
Where do you think the steel comes from in the first place ?
Man has been melting steel with fire for over 2000 years...

Who knew? lol Well I am sure that the tin foil hat wearing crowd will find away to dismiss this. It is sad that they are this gullible. I think that they need to go out side, grab a cheek in each hand and pull really hard until they see daylight and their heads emerge from the a55es. I bet this was just staged by Bush to further cover up 9/11. LMAO

Steel only needs to heat to around 950 degrees to collapse a structure. It doesn't need to melt... Warping is good enough.
