How do I attach an American flag to a pole with a halyard? I'm not securing it correctly and it slips down.

There are many ways to do this, and without a picture, even a sailor couldn't tell you the correct knots to use.

Your best bet is to call the local Boy Scouts and see if they can come over and help. I'd bet money they'll be proud to come help you with that.
