I have to do a career assignment. One of the questions is who are the main employers of the career you choose, and I chose law. Who are the main employers for law? I need things like law firms. I don't need the names of the places, just law firms,courts, etc. Please help me!

Well, I'm no lawyer, but perhaps I can help.

1) I work in industry as does my husband. I'm in technology and he is in banking. Both of us have legal departments at our large companies. We need to sue people, issue patents, enter into agreements with other companies, etc. So corporations need lawyers.

2) Law firms (duh). I guess you'd call this private law...lawyers for hire by anyone. Not only do they defend you, but also handle thinks like wills, trusts, and such.

3) Courts...specifically, a friend of mine graduated with a JD, passed the bar, and became a clerk for a judge.

4) The government. Who do you think all the prosecuters and public defenders work for?
