I am thinking he will be more like the next Donovan McNabb, Russell has a cannon for an arm, he is laser accurate with his throws even down field, and he is a big guy and break out of tackles. Russell was a great pick up for the Raiders and will hopefully get them bakc into their winning ways.

Sorry, but Football is a team sport. Lane Kiffen has brought in two decent running backs and drafted a promissing one. JaMarcus Russell will take over in week 9 as planned. With a good running game or improved running game, he will not be stellar at first, but as the weeks go on, he'll do very well. Quincy Carter and Akili Smith, did not play for a strong program like LSU, so JR has an advantage they didn't. Let's give him a shot before booting him out of the league.

I second that! JaMarcus Russell will go down next to Tim "Phuck Yo" Couch as a terrible number 1 pick. It's not because he's black! It's because he is not dominate because if he were dominate he would have put up more than 3 points 269 yards passing and 14 yards rushing against Auburn and 10 points 229 yards passing and 14 yards rushing and most importantly 3 INTs against Florida! I believe this class of QB's does not have a franchise QB like Matt Leinart last year will be! But if there is it will be a sleeper pick not the big names like Russell and Quinn!

Whether or not he busts has nothing to do with his color. The question will be if he can adapt to the speed of the NFL and if Lane Kiffen can mold him effectively.
Kiffen did move in the right direction by dumping Moss. Moss was nothing but a leach on this org.
Getting Mike Willians and Josh McNown for just a fourth round pick may also be a coup. Mike Williams was at USC with Kiffen. Lane was able to get Mike to succeed their and probably is the only coach that can motivate him now.
JaMarcus won't have to play right away, assuming Josh can take over or Andrew Walters improves. Hopefully Russell will be given a couple of seasons to adapt before he is pushed out there (like Carson Palmer).

i agree that russell will be injured in 3 years and wont recover fully. not because he's black, but because of his style of play. he's a lot like daunte culpepper. jamarcus is a really big qb, which might come back to haunt him in a couple years, like his knees perhaps. quincy carter was fast, but couldnt pass. that might be the case with russel as the raiders dont have an OL.

Maybe he could be like those successful "white quarterbacks" like Joey Harrington, Ryan Leaf, Chuck Long, Art Schlister, Todd Marinovich and Gino Torretta. Those were some of the most successful "white quarterbacks" who ever played in the NFL? No drugs or gambling problems at all in that bunch! Each one is or will be a Hall of Famer. Your Right buddy, a "white quarterback" will always be the answer to a franchise! Look at that "white QB" who was with the Houston Texans..David Carr he sure turned that franchise around. Former Heisman winner Steve Spurrier sure had a long NFL career didn't he? Al Davis must be black, that is the only reason the Raiders took him! They must have let Art Shell make one last decision before he was fired....Yea right you bigot!!!!!

I think Jamarcus Russell will have a long road ahead of him due him coming out as a Junior from college. He's not the athlete like Vince Young is, a totally different kind of QB.

Wont happen he works harder than those two. He is a student of the game will become one of the best quarterbacks of all time if he don't get injured. He will become a force like Vince Young which I told people last year would do it in the NFL and guess what Young will be even better this year and Russ and Young will be battling it out for who goes to the superbowl in the near future both are game changers and for those racist clowns out there it's a new day deal with it Russ and Young will both be stars for years to come and will dominate Football.

Big QBs never last long. Culpepper made it 4 years in the league, and McNabb is hurt every year. Being 6'6", 270 lbs., that's a big frame to be running around cuz the Raiders O-line sucks. His knees won't last, plus since he's 6'6", those are some long legs for LB and DL to target.

Besides you being a total idiot racist, I do think Russel will be out of the league in 3 years. He made his career off one big game. It just happened to be the championship game. If Troy Smith had done better in that game he would have been on the top of everyones list. He performed better in big games over his career.
