That's an old tired argument, Dude. The TRUTH is that we believe that all people deserve a fair chance to live the American dream. It's a little heart wrenching when old fashioned "do the right thing or WWJD", takes a back seat when it comes to politics. It's disconcerting when Districts are redrawn in an obvious effort to keep the "haves" separate of the "have nots" (see Texas), till some "undesirables" make it to that level (non-conservative), at which time it's only a matter of time before they're redrawn again.

With the riches that this country has, there is NO reason why we should have poverty, or some type of affordable health care for everyone.

I believe, that everyone SHOULD earn their way. Most true Americans do. It's the way most of us were brought up. It's the way most of us were educated. Unfortunately some of our fellow Americans haven't learn this simple process yet...

We dont , Mr. Assumption!!! I dont mind WORKING for what I have! Its just that things can be easier if the government would HELP once ina while with certain things. And Im NOT talking about Welfare because THAT is a PROBLEM and Im tired of seeing lazy people get checks in the mail just because they SAY they cant work or they have KIDS! See? Im middle of the road here. But Liberals DONT expect everything to be supplied by the (gag!) Government.

Liberals do not want that. I don't think you could find a liberal who would arge that rich people should have better vacations and better televisions than poor people.

However, one of the reasons I am liberal, is because I believe that certain essential things, such as medical care should be distributed to people based on need, and not on their wealth.

The idea that wealthy people can get cosmetic surgery from highly skilled surgeons, and full body MRI's to detect every single bubble within them, while the poor can't afford to take their children or parents to the doctor for FOLLOW-UP appointments after major surgery or when they are seriously ill is sick and depraved..

The government should ensure that essential services such as food and medical care are rationed in a way that does not make a mockery of our values of freedom and equality.

Freedom is not freedom to die or freedom to starve.

Mainly because corporate conservatives will always put profit ahead of human needs. That always results in a certain percentage of people who will be without health care or housing or even food simply because there is not enough charity to go around. Without government mandated or supplied services for all, some will always suffer.

they don't. there are certain basic needs the govt should be responsible for. Republicans and Democrats disagree on where to draw the line. Should the government make sure we all have access to electricity, water? How about access to transportation? What about healtchare? Soon the baby boomers are going to need help from the govt paying for all their meds. Or should the people pick up that bill?

The main purpose of any government is to provide service for the people. "We the people for the people" ring a bell dumb**s. i guess for you the main purpose of a government is to steal you money so they can waste it on wars that aren't even ours to fight. you're right, let's sit back and watch our fellow citizens suffer and give the our money for no good reason and enjoy the show. America's main problem is that we are no longer the people for the people, it's each dumb**s for himself. live alone die alone.

Liberals, themselves don't. They just drink the Kool-aid that the Liberal Power Structure. Tells them to drink. Those Butt Munchers, in D.C. want the Power. Which is where they draw their enegy from. No power? No control. No reason to be a Liberal.
