There was a time in our society that people could give and receive special breaks, discounts, etc. -- HOWEVER, since the women's movement has beaten people into submitting to so-called "equal rights," the practice of giving women anything special, even including women in the "women and children first" rule in disasters, should be ended. (By the way, women used to get drinks for half-price in bars, etc. as encouragement for men to buy drinks for them.)

Men - be sure you find out where a woman stands on all this BEFORE you do anything special for her - like paying for dates, killing spiders. She can't have it both ways! If she believes that as a woman she should have equality AND have all the benefits she did before (such as you paying for dinner, pulling her chair out for her, etc.) -- RUN! She's only going to whip you, boy!

You can't have it both ways, ladies! (By the way, I'm a woman! I hate all this double standard b.s.!!)

In a lot of places it is, actually, illegal to give women free entrance to clubs. It is discrimination and is illegal because itt's not fair to charge a fee based on gender. The gym thing probably is, too, because the memberships are paid for equally. It would only not be discrimination if they offer men-only days as well.

Giving or not giving speeding tickets based on gender (or any other non-speed related criteria) is, quite obviously, illegal.

No, I think, it's not fair and it is wrong. If we want to be treated as equals then we should be perfectly happy with all that entails. Even if we have to pay to get into a club or actually suffer the consequences of breaking the law.

Great examples of the silent double standard.

If the roles were reversed, the feminists would be all over it. But, since it works in their favor, the response is a big YAWN.

The free club entrance and "ladies" whatever days are patently discriminatory, but not illegal.

On the speeding ticket thing, I've been stopped for speeding a few times and haven't gotten tickets. So, it might just be a nice cop.

You can ask the same question about chivalry.

Is it wrong for a woman to have her door opened for her?
Is it wrong for a man to stand up when a woman leaves the table?
Is it wrong for the man to walk on the street side of the sidewalk?
Is it wrong for a man to go at a slower pace when he is walking with a woman?
Is it wrong for the man to give the woman his coat when she is cold?

Granted, the source for these two sets of questions is different. Chivalry is in fact all about courtesy and equality. Women are the "weaker" sex, so chivalry evens the playing field. Your set of questions show instances where the breaks go too far. They unbalance the playing field in the women's favor.

So I'd have to say that women should not get special breaks in most cases. I like ladies nights at night clubs because women are largely outnumbered by men in the clubs I go to and ladies nights attract women. But I don't think that women should be allowed to get out of speeding tickets.

Getting out of speeding tickets on account of gender is ridiculous; I believe the law applies equally to everyone. And it's hardly as if we can't afford admission to clubs. However, it's nice to have a day at the gym without getting gawked at. I imagine some men would like the same thing once in a while.

Free entrance to clubs.
sure.... so its ok for women to be treated as sex objects as long as they are paid for it in some way..... right =D??
lol.

Getting out of speeding ticket.
pretty women get out of speeding tickets. The more flirtacious they are and the shorter their skirts, the more likely the woman gets out of it.

"Yes we are the prettier gender. We make no excuses for it. If we choose to exploit it(beauty and sex), its none of your business.
If you succumb to our wiles and charms, its because you(man) are shallow and deserve it. If you do not, you are gay.
Shucks. nvm. The women are always right."

reflects a prostitutes mindset...... how sad....... so sad...... oh why oh why ??? i drop a tear at the hypocrisy involved.

The script continues.....

"no...... why.....no..... i did nothing wrong.... " (the helpless cries of the man echoes off and dissipates to the neverending darkness of hypocrisy)

(the darkness is replaced by the figure of a woman)
"im woman, hear me roar. im career-minded and fully capable of supporting myself. But it would be so sweetttt if i could be with a man who is rich and handsome. He should be able to provide for me fully in a FEW way, namely my emotional, financial needs. Also, i dont mind getting free drinks and escape driving tickets even if it objectifies me.
Im woman and im pretty so all those things mentioned above by the question poster are MY RIGHTS. OK??"

(pls note. pls note. The above mentioned "script"(for lack of a better word) is a satirical form of humour and in no way reflects the writer's opinion.
All women, pls dont be offended, and PLS DO NOT SUE ME!!!! (or give me a thumbs down plssss).
If you do, i will use my non-existent rights as a man, and get back at you!!! I swear i will do so and you will regret it !!!
(you dont want me to beg you right ??)
) )

free entrance to clubs is restricted to what the bouncers consider to be "attractive" women and it is done to manipulate men to pay to get in. you fall into that trap, blame the marketing company.

Getting out of speeding tickets is the cop's discretion and if they are doing it based on gender, then they are wrong and the cop should be blamed. How much would you complain if a gay cop let you go on a speeding ticket because he thought you had a nice ***?

Ladies only days at the gym are a way to get more money from women, especially ones who avoid gyms because they are uncomfortable being around men while dressed in gym wear.

any better examples?

I think that society owes it to women to allow for special dispensation. After all, you insisted on treating us differently from men for the first 231 years of American history- why quit now? First we couldn't vote, then married women and women with children were not permitted to work in many fields, then women who worked various industrial jobs during World War 2 were expected to just give up their jobs when the men came back, and then women were (and still are!) all made to feel like failures if they don't marry and have children. Combine that with the new attitude that women of the new millennium should "have it all"- the career, the marriage, the kids, the minivan, the 401(k), the cooking skill, etc. and I think that all that stress is worth a couple of free watered-down drinks at a bar on a Wednesday night, don't you???

Women get free entrance to clubs because we are perceived as commodities who bring in the "real" paying customers - the men.

If a woman gets out of a speeding ticket, that's the cop's damn problem.

Women wouldn't need women's only gyms or days if men didn't ogle women at the gym.
