First the good news: All of the Vet schools in the US are excellent.

Second the bad news: There are only 28 Vet schools in the US and most have residency requirements. Most only have a few slots open to those who are not residents of the state. I actually know people who became medical doctors because they were unable to get into Vet school.

If you do a web search for "US Veterinary Schools" you will find several web sites that give information on getting into these schools.

The link below will give you some information about those accepted into vet schools. You will notice that all 131 students who were accepted into UC-Davis were California residents.

I have heard that Washington State University in Pullman, WA has a very good veterninary program, teaching not just your typical "pet" varieties but also large farm-type animals.

WSU is a public state university (as opposed to a private university) and has a good undergraduate program.

For more information, check out their website here: http://academics.wsu.edu/fields/study.asp?ID=PREVE
