In the movie Night of the Living Dead, there was a corpse of a female at the top of the stairs, how come she never came back as a zombie?

...hey, you're right!!! How the heck didn't she become a flesh-eating ghoul!!!

I have watched the film dozens and dozens of times (in fact, as a six year old toddler, it was the very first movie I ever watched), and it never really occured to me....that is, until now!!!

I can only conjecture that perhaps upon being attacked by wayward maurading zombies, maybe the flesheaters ate all of, if not part of her brain, before dying, and subsequently before 'coming back' (as the line in the movie states, "Kill the brain, and you kill the ghoul").

I'm mainly speculating this, as a result of having seen director Tom Savini's remake of "Night...", circa 1990 (he reportedly used a variation of Geoege Romero's original script), where some of the house's true occupants (i.e., 'Uncle Ned' and company) WERE zombiefied, and wandering about the house, before the crazed and desperate Barbara showed up.

...your guess may well be as good, if not better than mine...

She killed herself (bang to the head) that is where the blood and the gun came from. It started that night"Night of the living dead"
That body would not be that decomposed after one afternoon. so gunshot made that body look like that
