No ones ever been able to surprise me, I always anticipated what I was getting. But this last birthday I had, one of my best friends showed up at my place a head of time, but we had to go back into the city to get a few things, so I picked her up and we left right away. Everything was normal, I didn't think a thing, and then as we walked into my stair case, she had decorated the entire thing with streamers and garlend, and a huge poster she'd decorated herself. She got me two gifts, cat toys for my cats. She knew I would love that, and then candles, more for me you know. But the best part was the hand made card she wrote. It was so personal, and thoughtful, it was the best gift/birthday I can remember since I was a child.

For my most recent b-day, one of my best friends sent me a gift bag w/ some awesome socks (I have a sock fetish), the cutest teddy bear & an illustrated copy of Alice in Wonderland (my fave childrens book)...I cried! She's 1000 miles away now & she went out of her way & put a lot of thought into it. My parents & husband do nice things for me & I love them but, that's the first time a friend ever did!

This is a very nice question, with everyone giving great answers. I have received many gifts, but my mom gave me my dad's ring after he passed away, and I will cherish that for a long time.

I am very fond of bouquets of roses and flowers. But somehow nobody yet managed to give me one as a present on my birthday. It so happened that on my 20th birthday, my mom and brothers did not said Happy birthday to me. i was upset and angry when suddenly i got a bouquet of 100 roses, a big birthday cake, and gold earrings from Courier. I was very happy to know that my mom and brothers have planned this for me.
It was soooo sweet of them and it was the best birthday present i ever had!

My Harley trike. I had the Harley but the old lady turned it into a trike for me. My forever gift. This will cover my b-day, Christmas, Anniversary, EVERYTHING. I call it my everything gift. She's a keeper.

way back in h.s. i recv'd a letter from a friend that meant the world to me, I was going thru a rough period and she just lifted my spirits with some kind words...friends to this day!
