2x -((3x - 1)/4) = 4

2x - (3x - 1/4) = 4

4(2x) - 4(3x - 1/ 4) = 4(4)

8x - (3x - 1) = 16

8x - 3x + 1 = 16

5x + 1 - 1 = 16 - 1

5x = 15

5x / 5 = 15 / 5

x = 15 / 5

x = 3

first solve the inside brackets..
2x - 3x+1/4 = 4

You have to get a common denominator; therefore,

(8x/4) - (3x+1/4) = 4

Since, the denominators are equal, you had add the numerator:

5x+1 / 4 = 4

Multiply both sides by 4

5x+1 = 16
subtract both sides by -1 (bring like values on same side)
5x = 15
x = 3 (divide both sides by 5)

multiply by 4--8x-3x+1 = 16
simplify--5x +1 = 16
take 1 away--5x = 15
divide by 5-- x = 3

2x- ((3x-1) /4) = 4

Multiply by 4 on both sides:
8x - (3x-1) = 16
8x - 3x + 1 = 16
5x = 16 - 1
5x = 15
x = 3

multiply all by 4
4*[2x- ((3x-1) /4)] = 4*4
8x-(3x-1) = 16
8x-3x+1 =16
5x = 16 -1
5x = 15
x = 3

2x-(3x-1)/4=4

Multiply both sides by 4 to get rid of the fractions:
8x-(3x-1)=16
8x-3x+1=16
5x+1=16
5x+1-1=16-1
5x=15
5/5x=15/5
x=3

Check:
2(3)-((3(3)-1)/4)=4
6-((9-1)/4)=4
6-(8/4)=4
6-2=4
4=4

First, get rid of that nasty fraction by multiplying both sides by 4

8x - (3x - 1) = 16

Get rid of the parentheses
8 x - 3x + 1 = 16 ==> 5x = 15

Solve:
x = 3

hope this shall help:

We use v(k) to denote the least value of s for which every n is representable in this manner.

In the case k=3,Demjanenko proved that every integer n is a sum of four cubes
exclude 9m+4 and 9m-4.([1].Demjanenko)

In the case k=4,it seemed that 9<=v(4)<=10.([2]. Hardy)

On the condition of v(4)<=10,I found some polinomial identities below.

For example

(3x+73)4+(2x+53)4-(3x+75)4-(2x+46)4+(x+31)4+(x+22)4-(x+32)4-(x+23)4=48x+1

This identities means that every integer of 48x+1 is representable by eight 4th powers.

734+534-754-464+314+224-324-234=1
764+554-784-484+324+234-334-244=49

I couldn't find the cases of 48x+6,48x+7,48x+8,48x+9,48x+10,48x+22,48x+23,48x+24,
48x-6,48x-7,48x-8,48x-9,48x-10,48x-22,48x-23.

2x - ((3x-1)/4) = 4
+ ((3x-1)/4)
2x= 4 + ((3x-1)/4)
-4
2x-4 = 3x-1 / 4
x4
8x - 16 = 3x -1
-3x
5x - 16 = -1
+16
5x = 15
/5
x= 3

Hiya!

First, you work out what's in the brackets - and that means that you divide (3x-1) by 4 to get 0.75x - 0.25. When you subtract this amount from 2x, you will see that 2x-0.75x = 1.25x and that adding 0.25 (as a double-negative) means you now see 1.25x + 0.25 = 4.

The next step is to subtract 0.25 from each side, so we then see 1.25x + 0.25 - 0.25 = 4 - 0.25. Since the +0.25 and -0.25 cancel each other out, and 4 - 0.25 = 3.75, we now have 1.25x = 3.75.

When we divide each of these terms by 1.25, we are left with x=3; and there's your answer.

I hope this helps.
