I happened to catch an author speaking at my local college about his book a while back and I was interested if there were any community "calanders" where you could find the dates of special "guest" speakers in your area. Im cetain theres a way to find dates for public events where there might be a special guest speaker.

Im interested in science, politics, business, authors talking about their books, etc...

Thanks

Check your local newspaper, they often publish that information.
The next time you go to your favorite bookstore ask if they have a list of upcoming speakers at their store.

The library also usually has a calendar of upcoming events. The colleges should also have an online calendar of speakers and such
