Hi....I have deceided on spriea Renaissance...

Need to know how to cover a 50 foot area...I purchased five 7 gallon plants...and, need to know if this is enough...it seems too open ...for a privacy hedge....What i do know is that this plant does not like to be too close together when planted, as it can grow upto 6 feet wide....I have not put them in the ground yet, as, i do not have time until next week..What is your experience ..with this situation ...thanks in advance..

thanks for your input...

Hmm, I would have purchased 7. The first one goes in 3 feet from your "edge" or starting point, then every 6 feet there after. The last one will be "3" feet from the far edge .......actually that would be true if you length was 48, not fifty feet. So let's adjust, the first one should be 4 feet from the staring point and then every 6 feet thereafter, leaving 4 feet on the far side.

This way you won't have a shrub right at the beginning that you'll have to butcher each year to keep off off a walk or whatever is on the edges.

Realize your "hedge" will be loose, not tightly compacted for many years. I much prefer this less formal or constipated look.
