Platys are a good option certainly. Also male guppies as they come in so many colors that 3-4 would add lots of color to your tank. Of course, there are also some really colorful tetras that would make a nivce addition to a community tank.

check out http://www.elmersaquarium.com. they have a link that can give you an idea of what type of community tanks that you can have and a basic idea of what type of fish you can have in them.

check out http://www.liveaquaria.com. i don't know how you feel about ordering fish online but you will at least get some information about the types of fish that are that are shown on the Elmer's Aquarium site or you can just go through Live Aquaria's freshwater fish selection where you can find out minimum tank sizes required, temperature and pH levels. Hope that this helps you in your quest.

I'm a huge fan of platies myself. They come in dozens of colors and color combinations, they're easy to care for, and they get along with everybody. I have 5 right now ranging from pink to orange to blue! You can find them absolutely anywhere that sells fish and they're pretty cheap.

Guppies! The males are very brightly colored and come in just about every color you can think of. If you get just males you won't end up over-run with babies. But if you want babies, then guppies are the way to go because they breed quickly.
