1: The subtrahend is 29,847; the minuend is 37,435. Find the difference.
29,847 - 37,435 = -7,588

2: The divisor is 3 2/5; the dividend is 4 6/7. Find the quotient.
3 2/5 = 17/5
4 6/7= 34/7
(34/7) / (17/5) = (34/7) * (5/17) = 170/119 = 10/7 = 1 3/7

3: Find the area of a rectangle with dimensions 26.7 feet by 32.8 feet
(26.7)(32.8) = 876 sq. ft

4: Find the circumference of a circle with radius 3.10 feet. Use pi = 3.14
circumference of a circle = 2πr
= (2)(3.14)(3.10)
= 19.5 ft.

5: Which is the greater, a five-foot square or five square feet
five-foot square - [Each side of the five-foot square is 5 feet, area is 25 square feet. Five square feet is a square of side
2.236 feet and area (2.236)(2.236) = 5 sq feet.]

6: The side of one square is 3' and that of another is 6'. The area of the larger square is what percent of the area of the smaller square?
Area of square1 = (3)(3) = 9
Area of square2 = (6)(6) = 36
larger square percent of the area of the smaller square (100/9)*36 = 400%

7: The length and width of a rectangle, measured to the nearest tenth of an inch, are 8.4" and 5.6". What is the largest number that can be rounded to 5.6?
5.64

Subtrahend is the thing being subtracted. Minuend is what it's being subtracted from. Problem 1 is then 37,435 - 29,847

Problem 2 can be handled by remembering that division can be accomplished by inverting the number and multiplying. First convert to fractions rather than mixed numbers. 3 2/5 = 17/5 and 4 6/7 = 34/7. Invert the divisor and multiply:
34/7 * 5/17. Note that 17 conveniently divides into 34, making the problem easier. Once you get the result, convert back to a mixed number.

Problem 3 is 26.7 x 32.8. If you can't do the area of a rectangle, you need more help than we can give you.

Problem 4: The circumference of a circle is 2*pi*radius and they've already told you what to use for pi.

Problem 5: Calculate the area of a five foot square (as in problem 3 - a square is also a rectangle, so its area is calculated the same way) Compare that result to 5 square feet.

Problem 6: Calculate the area of square A (the 3' square). Calculate the area of square B (the 6' one). The answer that you are looking for is (area of B)/(area of A) expressed as a percentage

Problem 7 has nothing to do with the rectangle. They are simply looking for the largest number in the choice list that can be rounded to 5.6. Just look at the available choices. Round each one to one decimal place and choose the largest one that rounds to 5.6

1. -7,588
2.1 and 3/7
4 and 6/7 divided by 3 and 2/5
34/7 X 17/5= 34/7X5/17=170/119=1 and 51/119=1 and 3/7 because reduced by 7.
3. ?
